The word is a special word. What is a savior? In simple terms, it is one who delivers us from danger, destruction, death or enslavement. The term is often used of human leaders, of medical professionals, or being rescued from a burning building. In each case we will acknowledge that we were rescued or saved from something.
For our purpose in this lesson we are going to focus on the spiritual and biblical use of the term Savior and its root words salvation, save or saved. The Bible makes it abundantly clear in numerous passages that Jesus Christ is our only true Savior (Matthew 1:18-23; I John 4:14; John 1:29; John 14:6).
We will proclaim Why we need a Savior. We will explore Why and How Jesus is qualified to be our Savior. We will continue to look to scripture to find How we may connect with Jesus the Savior and What are the benefits of His salvation.
